Hitos for Android
Privacy policy
In one sentence
Hitos collects no data about you. Everything you enter in the app is stored on your phone and is not sent anywhere.
What the app stores and where
Hitos stores the habits you create, each day's records, notes, reminders and your settings. All of it lives in the app's private storage on your device, which other apps cannot access. If you turn on the lock with fingerprint, face or PIN, Hitos uses Android's own authentication; it never stores or reads your biometric data.
What leaves your phone
Nothing, except what you decide:
- Backups and exports. If you turn on automatic backup or export your data, Hitos writes a file to the folder you choose (for example a folder in your Google Drive, an SD card or your downloads folder). That file contains your habits, records and notes. Who can see it depends on where you keep it and on the service you use; Hitos does not send it to any server of its own.
- Encrypted backup. If you choose to protect the backup with a passphrase, the file is encrypted on your phone with AES‑256‑GCM and a key derived from that passphrase (PBKDF2, 600,000 iterations). The passphrase is never stored or sent anywhere. Without it, the backup cannot be recovered.
Hitos has no internet permission. There are no accounts, no server, no analytics, no advertising and no identifiers. You can check the app's permissions in Android Settings → Apps → Hitos → Permissions.
Permissions the app asks for, and why
- Notifications: to show the reminders you set and the backup notice.
- Exact alarms: so a reminder goes off at the time you set, not "roughly then".
- Run after restart: to re-schedule your reminders when the phone reboots.
- Vibration: so a reminder notification can vibrate.
- Fingerprint, face or PIN: for the app lock, if you enable it.
- Keep the phone awake briefly: to make the nightly backup and refresh the widgets at midnight.
Android also adds an internal permission that only Hitos itself can use and that Google Play does not show. None of these gives access to your contacts, location, camera, microphone, files or the internet.
Android backup
Android's automatic app backup (the one Google makes to your Google account) is turned off for Hitos. Your data is only copied where you choose, with the app's own backup.
In-app purchases
Hitos has no purchases in this version. If a Pro version is offered in the future, the purchase will be handled by Google Play; Hitos will only check on the device whether it is active, without sending data to any server of its own.
Children
Hitos is not directed at children under 13 and collects no data from anyone, whatever their age.

Changes
If this policy changes, the date above will be updated and the new version will appear at this same address. If a change affected what data leaves your phone, the app would tell you when updating.
